I’m not quite sure all needed info is out on GM fish – I want it to be labeled so I can make an informed decision at the market – I think if GM salmon has a dark side, then surely we need know what we’re buying is GM – and if GM salmon is cheaper than all others, than it certainly needs to be labeled as well. So yeah, label it.

    How’s work? Getting into it?

As the EU parliament has just turned down a “stop light regulation”, where packaged foods would have been labeled with a red/yellow/green sticker to indicate their respective content of sugar, fat and sodium, I’m curious if the FDA
will be more susceptible to the voice of reason.

The FDA (and of course the fish company) say that there are “no biologically relevant differences” between the GMO and the conventional salmon. But they do say that the DNA has been altered . . . isn’t the DNA biologic? Seems to me like something is different!

GMO hasn’t been a real problem for me yet . I avoid eating farmed salmon (from Chile) which is highly contaminated with PCBs. I don’t trust FDA which doesn’t care about consumers at all.
The more important is eat sustainable seafood (locally farmed or caught). Before buying seafood I go to http://www.seachoice.org/ or http://www.montereybayaquarium.org/cr/seafoodwatch.aspx to check if the fish is safe for me and environment.

Maybe GM food isn’t as bad as some people make them out to be, but people should be allowed to make informed decisions. Any GM food should be labeled so that the people who don’t want to eat it can choose not to buy it.

I’m amazed that this is even up for discussion with the FDA!
